I have a 2785lb Door car ( Cuda) 4 Link Front Strut Car, I Run the Goodyear D1984 32x14x15 Tire on a set of Convo Pro's the Problem is after 50-60 passes the reaction times start to drop off, Pro tree will go .00 all day long till it gets 50-60 passes then cannot get better than a .037 light, full tree same story have to change my delay box to compensate. car runs mid to high 8.40's 155-161mph, The question is will Beadlocks help the side wall last longer so I can get more runs on the tires, The contact part of the tire still has alot of life in it still. Next question How many passes should I be getting on these tires. I do conservative Burn outs I have been replacing at about a 100-120 passes or so. Thanks for your input

Thanks for your input The purpose of beadlocks is to keep the tire on the rim. In high speed/high horsepower cars they are preferable to screws in that regard. I doubt very much if they will extend your usable tire life. BTW we get about 15 runs on ours' before the sidewall is shot.

sccuda OP member Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 70 Oregon	Thanks for the reply It just seems to be killing the sidewall and just looking to get more life out of them the 60 foots are 1.118 -1.120. With new tires and more timing I believe it will go 1.116-1.117 was thinking about going to 32x15x16 tire & wheel to shorten the sidewall ( less area to stretch) or Beadlocks on my 15's. Not sure which would be best we bracket race and run it in Super Gas What is your combination ? Car weight et etc..

Al_Alguire I Live Here Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 19,377 Las Vegas	You might try running a stiff sidewall tire. I ran Goodyears for years and they were great but when they went away they went away. I switched to M/T stiff sidewall a coupl eof years ago and have not looked back. The M/T is a larger tire, more rollout but dont go away near as quickly. As for beadlocks they will stiffen the sidewall a bit. They will also ad weight to the car in the wrong area. It will likely slow a bit in 60' but may maintain the times for a longer period. FWIW I change my tires every year, I run 15x33 M/T. My car destroys the side walls as well. When we ran goodyears we were lucky to get a good 40 passes from them. Car is almost 2900lbs and will go bottom 8's at 170 all out, however I run S/ST mostly anymore so 10.90 in the high 150's or 11.05 at mid 150's or 11.35 at 151. I tried Hoosiers once made 10 passes spun bad 10 times sold them at a loss and went back to Goodyears. I thought the D1984 is supposed to be the stiff sidewall. As for how long I run them, we replace them at the end of the year. I give or sell them off after that and I know of one car that is well OVER 200 MORE passes since I sold them on them. They do not go away on me I just get new ones every year. When we ran Goodyears I would have to replace them during a year as the 60's dropped off. This year I am up to 87 passes and counting. Racing this weekend at Jegs Sportsnats and one more divisional, the SCSN race and the Turkey race so we will be well over 100. "I am not ashamed to confess I am ignorant of what I do not know." sccuda OP member Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 70 Oregon	Thanks for the info, I will look into the Mickeys, The larger tire might be a problem with clearing the lower part of the fender, once up on the tire I have plenty of room, its driving around the pits etc... Good Luck in your last races I envy you guys running in the winter or all year with the warm weather, supposed to start raining hear and probably wont stop till July LOL

FWIW, the added weight over the rear axle did not slow my dragster down one bit. If anything it was quicker due to better traction on our crappy tracks! That is not very good tire life from those gy's. I am running a set of GY2078 33x15x15 they are stiff sidewall D6 compound absolutely the best tire for me so far. All that said, IMO you need a stiff sidewall on your car.

I don't think you would like them. anyone got real world weight differences on beadlock vs. non bead lock?? I bet it's not as much as people think. And what is a beadlock tire?? I've run M/T tires before and I would bet my GY mounted on beadlocks weigh no more then M/T's on non beadlock. M/t's are heavy.

I can tell how many runs are on my tires based on the 60'... I get a 1.19 60' for 20 passes, 1.20 for 20 passes, 20 at 1.21 then it tends to hold at 1.22 but I usually replace them when it hits 1.22... the tire still has PLENTY of wear indicator hole left on them..this is with tubes in them... I got more runs on the M/T but never got a 1.19 60" they normally ran 1.20 but for about 50 passes then they fell off.... I never ran G/Y so I dont know about them but I hear they are softer for the bite but shorter life Oh yeah... I run screws on them... 14x31.25 on a 12" rim
