I had a thick frost on my windshield this morning, and that can only mean one thing...less than two weeks til the Halloween Classic at Norwalk! I look forward to this race all year, even though I won't be racing...I'll be announcing Thursday late afternoon til whenever it ends on Sunday! So, who from moparts is going? Will you be here all week or just a few days? Are you in any gambler's races?
Gotta go dig my Ice Cream Sandwich costume outta the closet for Saturday...

Matt and I will be there Sunday to Sunday. We are both racing Sunday and he is in the Thursday no-box gambler race and I am in the Thursday box race.He will be driving a black primered 1970 duster (X970) in pro over the weekend and I will be racing my gloss black 1970 duster in super pro (1X3J). If you get a chance stop over and see us on the Summit side in the grass. It would be nice to meet you.

This is the first year in the past 10 or so that I have not pre-entered. I'm wondering if we'll be knee deep in snow by then, as the weather has seemed 'ahead of schedule' this year. I do enjoy spending the week with friends , sharing some beverages , tellin some tales , and listening to some polka

I may still venture up if the weather isn't bad, probably roll in on thurs or friday. If I decide not to drag my junk along, I'll definitely be there sat.

Just sending out my entry today, hoping to get in the Thursday no-box. I will be there on Sunday, and then back from Wednesday to Sunday, on the Summit side as well!

It might be easier for you to find me. I'll probably put between 45-55 hours in 3 1/2 days up in the tower!
Everyone remember to feed you announcers!

The last time I walked up all those steps it took 3 hours and I thought I was going to have a heart attach.

I was thinking about going, emailed the track twice to get a preentry form sent to me, but have not recieved one, whats the odds of getting in a Gamblers race without preentry, arent they limited on entries? Ive never been to Norwalk, been to the one in Boise Id many times, and that race is patterned after the Norwalk race. Any body ever had any luck getting a preentry without first attending? Family that runs the Boise track are good friends with the Baders.

Call the track and ask if any races are open. If they are full have them put you one the alternates list as they always need more racers due to breakage or no-shows. Sundays (10-21-12) is open to everyone as most find their pit spot for the week. FREE pizza and beer Monday night and Mean Motorhome Race Tuesday night Bonus races begin on Wednesday. Hope you can make it there. When you call get on their mailing list. 419-668-5555 Norwalks phone number

You need to be pre-entered to attend Sunday through Wednesday. If you call the track like he mentioned, they will probably be able to take all of your info over the phone and get you set up. The New family came to Norwalk many years ago to see how the Bader's ran the race. Bill Sr. gave them the thumbs up to use the "Halloween Classic" name.

After spending much time and $ getting ready for what was sure to yield some personal bests, I went to yesterdays Test & Tune at Norwalk (last one of the year) and to my amazement they announced no 1/4 mile for any cars. They also mentioned there would be no 1/4 mile racing for the Halloween classic. 1/8 mile only.

I was VERY disappointed. We packed up and left.

The Halloween Classic has been running 1/8 mile for the past several years. I didn't like the idea at first but its worked out great. The weather at this time of year is so unpredictable it was a very smart move. No more super late racing and the track is easier to keep in a safe racing condition. Give it a chance, you may like the change.

Yes, the Classic switched to 1/8th mile in all classes in 2008. October winds on the second half of the track when you get past the stands, cool/cold weather, and reducing the chance for breakage are among the reasons. It was the right decision, and I prefer 1/4. It's still a great time and a great race, tons of fun, hundreds of awesome cars.

I'll be there this Sunday in no box, Friday's no box gamblers, and in Sportsman for the main event.

John, me and you could have a dial in race to the tower. We'll use a sundial for the timer, but I'm not sure we'd finish before dark!

One of my favorite contests for giveaways is to have people race up the stands, starting them as far down as I can and making them race to the top. Even the guys in shape get about 2/3 the way up and look up as if to say "Holy crap, I still have that far to go?" The exceptions were announcer Ed O'Reilly, and IHRA stock champ Michael Beard, who did it faster than anyone in loafers!

Well I made it to the 4th round in no-box yesterday, and then got the red eye!

We are there pitted facing the track right at the scoreboards on the Bud side. We have the red and black 69 Camaro, Dodge did not quite make the call for this race. Stop by and say hello.
