Thanks Rod
Yeah I had read that a while back, regards the treating.
I know these particular rockers are different than the I believe it was Probe stuff they used to carry or maybe still do.
Just looking at what options are out there for roller cams on stock style heads that don't require clearancing and can hold up to probably 550-600 spring pressures
The HS stuff doesn't impress me and requires being whittled on to run 1.55 springs from what I have heard.

Just FYI, those rockers will barely clear a 1.50 spring (depending on who you talk to). You will have to cut them to get a 1.55 in there.

Ouch.....
I had outstanding luck with Jesel spotsman series stuff on my W5 motor, ran them for years, and the new owner still does. They hit 8k a number of times by mistake..lol..and never an issue.Sweet bulletproof stuff.

So.....I decided to call Jesel, and find out what if anything they offer for a standard style head, turns out they have an offering.
Its part number KPS 09749 these require milling the stands to fit( an operation they offer for 100 bucks a head, you send the heads, they set them up.
These arent the sportsmen series, they are pro series, and are 1600 bucks a set complete..Will handle 800 spring pressure, and clear a 1.600 spring( larger than would even be required) with no clearancing.

Not cheap, but at least an alternative i wasnt aware existed.

I run these hughes on my bigblock and they have worked great for me. I actually traded my brother for them but I have bought a few other things from Hughes and they were very nice to me and treated me well. Ron

Just a little clarification on my end...

What I made reference to was NOT just one phone call...

This was after multiple attempts to get the situation ironed-out...

No doubt, everyone has an off day...

This was well beyond an off day...

Once again, never again...

I get what your saying,......
I know a few guys have butted heads with Dave. Sorry to hear you had issues with him. I have dealt with some people from other companies that I have had issue with it can really get frustrating.
Just sharing my experience with him.

You too? I just called them earlier in the week and I was a little put off by the attitude to say the least.

I ran the same set as 383man posted a pic of and I could never keep the adjusters from backing out. Yes their customer service guy was a smart ass. Looks are deceiving ! Go Harland s

I think Dove makes their rockers and they use Pioneer valve springs, not good performance parts!!

They might be Probe pieces...

Poor performance parts are GREAT performance parts if you have the right salesman. Just don't argue with him, he knows best...

These new ones that are 649.00 treated are a new offering, not the chinese stuff they had before as the only choice. But i could be wrong.

My eng has been in my 63 since June last year and I have not had any adjuster come loose. I adjusted the valves once and all were tight. Ron

Years ago Hughes sold Dove's rockers, but later changed to Probe's parts. When Probe got out of the rocker arm business w/in the last couple of years, Hughes picked up the tooling / whatever from Probe to have the Mopar rockers made.

I've run the Probe/Hughes stuff on the street for thousands of miles w/ 400#s open pressure (solid flat-tappet + Schubeck lifters). I'm in the process of putting together my first solid roller motor that will have 600#s open pressure and have bought new Hughes rockers to use w/ my new Victor heads.

I'll be keeping a close eye on the valve train, regardless, but expect the rockers should be OK from my experience to date.

Dale, Probe hasn't made our rockers for years. They are made here in the Midwest using the exact same extrusions that T&D and Jesel uses. Only of a few of the smaller cams are using Pioneer springs. Most of the performance cams use Manley or PAC springs.

Our rockers will clear 1.625" diameter valve springs without cutting or grinding. (When the geometry is correct)

that what it says ?
