Considering paying someone to do the grill on my 69 charger. Who is the go to guy for this? I'm looking for a detailed job, not just scuff and paint.

Thanks!

There are several guys, I'm sure; try Scott Smith_Harms here on the board.

I've got 3 in the works right now. I should be able to post pictures about weeks end .
I will go on record to say, these things eat time like mad if you really get into it . Fixing even the smallest of cracks is time consuming than most might think. I'll bet I have 2-3 hours just taking it apart

I had the frame and some of the smaller brackets dipped/powder coated to save costs and labor time. then media blasting all the other pieces, and repaint or replate as needed.

And Now I know why some guys were quoted $2000 and up to do one start to finish .

I can help as well, and everything Bill posted also applies to my work, as he said it is a VERY time consuming process and done right will usually lead to an expensive job regardless of what (qualified) person you chose to have the work done by.

Scott
would be more than qualified one to work with it, and it appears your both on the same coast which will save shipping costs both directions .

If there is any way of you driving or hiring a contract driver to deliver the grille would be ideal. I won't touch a grille unless it is hand delivered and picked up by the owner.

Ditto,

I had one shipped across country 3 times,
UPS ground broke it twice.

x2

Big parts that are so fragile are always best if hand delivered. Not such a huge deal before restoration but a HUGE deal after! Coffin sized crates are the norm for proper packing and shipping so there's added crating costs and shipping accordingly. Not trying to scare away business, just being real about it.

That is why you don't use ground service on fragile items. Always use air service as it is handled less and if you insure it for a large amount of $$ ($3,000+) it gets handled better then something insured for $100. Not trying to take a stab at you by any means, just trying to give some useful info to others.

And thanks for the replies everyone. I will be doing my homework.
