Was that the red 64? Jeff...Saw Mike launch with the hoops in the air! Nice car! Another member here won his class,he can tell the story! Low car count due to the cold weather. I got there late,so I bought a card for today. Thanks to everyone for stopping by to sign the banner and thanks Barnstorm for the Hemi sweatshirt!

The plans are for us Iowa boys to keep the money here!! You Minnesota racers are pretty tough to beat!

So far your plan hasn't worked. Congrats to Steve Glubke on winning the Box/No box final today!

Jeff

I'm glad Steve won. He's been hot this year.

Steve lost his wife Teri to cancer this last April, so it's good to see him do well racing.

I didn't have a good day. The Coronet caught on fire. I got out alive, with only some burns on my right hand. As far as the car goes, everything from the steering wheel forward is destroyed or damaged. Good thing Wisconsin winters are so long....

Well...minus air can have unanticipated problems for some. New HP and less traction. CFR went out of the way to prep the track and keeping everyone informed of the need to limit racing to 1/8 mi on Sat. Maybe Steve Glubke lent his shoe polish marker to all his victims and not just me! Hope to see better posts about Sun.

I saw your car after the fire but didn't have the heart to take a photo. Sorry it happened. I did take one earlier though. I posted them on forbodiesonly. Here's my link and a link from alleyoop who took some great starting line shots. Many of your cars are pictured. Mike

Glad you guys had a good event again this year. I am not to sure who is in charge of scheduling if it is left up to Dumpster Dan or not but the last 2 years he has asked us MOPAR guys at Cordova, (Cedar Falls sister track) to come up and race this event. We would all be more than willing but the event has been scheduled the same weekend as our last points race at Cordova. If there was anyway for anyone to convince them to try and do the event on an off week for both tracks it would be nice. I talked with Dumpster about this at Oktoberfest this year at Cordova and he said he would see what he could do. Hopefully something could happen to get some alignment between the two tracks to allow for more cars to come to Cedar Falls and up the car count at the Mopar Max event.

I talked to Scott Gardner about the scheduling, too. The week before ET finals,Cordova,CFR,and Eddyville were not running. That date would have been good and it would not interfere with racers going to Monster Mopar.

Russ,
Thanks for your concern, maybe we can get together and talk old hot rods. The cards were stacked against me that day. As soon as I noticed the fire, I turned off everything from inside the car. Got out and thought I shut off the master switch. We still do not know what started the fire. After the fire was finally extinguished and things settled down, one of the track guys said that the fuel pump was still running. It didn't make sense as the master switch was turned off. After some investigation we found the contacts in the master welded together and unable to open the circuit. This was caused by the main battery lead having the insulation melted and shorted to ground. The power to the fuel pump is routed in the same harness to the back of the car. The fuel pump power lead then shorted/melted to the main power lead. This made it impossible to shut off the fuel pump without crawling under a burning car and physically unplugging the fuel pump. In the future I will run the power to the fuel pump in its own harness. Hopefully fellow racers who have run the wires together will see this post and isolate the two leads. If other members read this post and know of a way to get this information to the entire site, it could save someone from disaster.
