65dodgebob OP member 6 Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 85 central illinois	i need some advice! chance to buy a nice pt cruiser cheap, but has broken timing belt. do these motors have enough valve clearance to avoid damage or does everything crash when a belt breaks?

71birdJ68 master 7 Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 4,453 Morristown Tn.	According how fast the motor was spinning when it broke. Usually will bend a couple of valves.But if its cheap enough and a nice car go for it and get it fixed.

T Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 21,073 Niles , Ohio	They dont usually bend valves.The valves actually hit each other depending on the RPMs.My wifes broke at about 25 MPH.New belt and WP and runs fine.They are a pain to change as its really tight in there.The exhaust cam has to be about 1 tooth off the timing marks when you set the cams.Rocky Chrysler Firepower
