Hi,
I was thinking about the rubber bumpers for the rear axle on e-bodies,it is a metal strap that goes thru the rubber..The metal strap is painted yellow on some cars.
Now to my question, should the metal strap be painted yellow on all 71 e-body cars?? Also is it only one end on the strap that gets the yellow paint or is it both ends (see pic). What plating under the paint, natural steel?
thanks Nicklas

Not really sure, but I think the yellow paint indicated a higher durometer (?spelling) bushing, and I believe the trans mount was also yellow, maybe same color(?) on the high hp cars for the same reason (???) jess
Yeah, it's hopped up to over 160...

I believe the HD suspension got the taller bumpers which were coded yellow. I think the entire bumper was dipped in paint, but it usually only stuck to the metal strap for very long.
Master, again and still
