you are going to be hard pressed to run pump premium wit hthat compression ratio and open chamber heads.

Since you are trying to save money and the engine is still just a block use the 3310 and have the block at least squared , it will cost less than a new 750DP.

Good luck with the build.

I like it you will be fine probably 160 to 170 cranking compression. make well north of 400 gross hp and should be fine on 93 octane even 91

Sorry to hijack this thread, I'm looking at doing a 383 build. Good info here.

JohnRR, did you get my PM about it? I know you're probably busier than a one-armed paper hanger.

I have 165, 170 cranking compression and it runs fine on 93 octane.

The DP should work fine with his 3000 stall and 3.91 gears. 1800 stall and 3.23 gears, no. A 650cfm would be fine also for a 383 motor.
Which 3310 do you have? If its a -1 or -2 I'd probably run that.

Thats the only reason i was gonna run the dp since high stall and steep gears but i will try the 3310 but have to look to see which one it is and will let you know! But was planning on 93 octane!I can always use felpro .040 headgaskets if needed!

Go with the hi-volume. Better protection at higher rpms. More oil circulated thru the engine is a GOOD thing. Just make sure you run at LEAST a 6-quart (or more) oil pan (deep or low profile, your choice) with a windage tray. I'm not too sure about that truck oil pan's capacity, 5 quarts maybe? Kinda marginal when that 383 "ramps up" it rpms to 6K.

DONT use a HV pump. A standard pump is more than plenty..

I am truckless..

Another vote for running a stock pump.

Ok thanks and the truck pan is 6 quart! But figured i would post some pics but I am not gonna get to run aluminum intake yet so will be using the factory 2806301 intake with light mods!Gonna get motor running first then buy either performer rpm or torker intake!

You won't like a torker. Stick with the performer dual plane intake.
