in the process of setting up my sons 416 Duster,
battery is in the trunk and we have an Allstar performance solenoid and a longacre disconnect swith #45785 mounted in the tail panel

i want the whole system to shutoff when the disconnect is turned off,

please look at my diagram and let me know if i am doing something wrong or how to improve it,

I revised my diagram and added an electric fuel pump to the mix, if i run the fuel to that side of disconnect it should cut off correctly, right ??

thanks
340

Alternator can't go to starter relay lug. You have a charging loop where the cutoff is ineffective.

Alt line needs to go to the battery + and isolated from the downstream side of your cutoff.

Like this, wire from alt. to the solonoid, solonoid gets its power to switch on from the main disconnect(the small terminals on the solonoid) then out the other side (the other main lug) goes to the battery. Make sure the solonoid is a constant duty.

Are you using a one-wire alternator?

1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's
1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

This uses two solenoids. One for the starter main line Jeep/Ford style) and one for the alternator charge line (continuous duty).

I think it'd be the same on a 3 wire alt just in addition run switched 12v to the reg/alt blue wire terminals then the std green from the other alt field terminal to the other (side) reg field terminal.
