Just put fresh heads on my 318 and used the metal intake gaskets in my kit. Torqued everything to spec and yet I have a massive leak around the intake ports. Anyone encounter this before, and is there a solution short of replacing the gaskets with composite ones? Spent the whole weekend on this project and I'm getting tired of screwing with it.

If your using metal intake gaskets on an aluminum intake, that's a no-no

Stock 2 barrel intake, 360 heads. Same type of gaskets that were on it.

right there is the problem, small port intake on large port heads.

you need a felpro composit gasket for the large port heads to get a seal with the small port intake.

the tin gasket is for small port heads with small port intake both cast iron.

If you're using 360 heads with a 318 intake manifold, you're going to have a massive port mismatch in terms of size. Add steel gaskets....and you have a sure leak. As mentioned, use 340/360 composite gaskets, and you'll be good to go
