sold one of my W5 top ends, but I still have 1 good head, 1 not so good head, and 1/2 a head cut up, couple of intakes, and a set of iron rocker arms. Also have a 340 block that will clean up at .030, but it didn't sonic well in one hole for any serious power. Need anything?
Hey, where did you come about a 1/2 head Guess the W5 thing is over for both of us.

@J body,
Thanks buddy, I can sure let you know. Ideally, I'd like to find a top end already machined properly, the W5 stuff really doesn't seem to be too hard to get a hold of.
Doing the math with a 4.22" bore Siamese block and a 4.25" BPE crank that'd be right at 476 cubes.
You get to a point of diminishing returns will all those inches on a "small head" in a hurry. My old 422 with w5 heads( pretty racy 9 sec setup) wheezed at 7300/7400 rpm last 100-120 or so feet getting to the stripe. Those heads on that many inches should probably be put in front of a combine or a planter.....lol

Don, Definately what you said is part of the final equation, what I miss most is the high revving sound my old W2 340 used to make at 7800-8000.... and as much face distorting torque as the stroker make they just aren't as exciting to wind-out. To go mega-cubes would sure be fun but I think a a big 4.18-4.20 inch bore 3.79" stroke 6.300 rod would be my favorite way to build a W5, the pragmatic side of me says it doesn't cost any more to throw a big 4.125" inch arm in there instead....even if it costs a bit of that high pitch wail that I love about 340's. The biggest point is for me just to get another interesting motor project going.

Compstar makes a sweet, resonable 6.30 rod I have used. Nice pieces Like big bore 3.79 motor. What is around other than those 1053 cranks these days
