OK - I found an NOS inside hood release cable for my 71 RR when it was being restored (The one with the plastic chrome handle) and now every time I pull it to open the hood, the handle slides off into my fingers. With the car now done, it's now become more than a pain in the @ss. I have to then pop the hood with a pair of pliers. I don't want to ruin an NOS handle/cable - what can I do to fix it - some kind of special plastic to metal glue ?
Thanks

I would try either an epoxy or JB Weld. Failing that, drill a small hole for a set screw but that may crack the plastic handle over time. I've had to do this on pretty much every AMC I've owned. I've had good luck with the JB Weld.

glue it on with jb weld. when the glue is dry, drill a small hole in the handle and rod. then jb weld in something like a pin in the hole you just drilled.
