I am trying to tune my 500 cubic inch street driven motor. I installed a air fuel gauge to help with tuning. These are my results.

71 f ambient on 91 octane with no ethanol

Idle range is 13.8 to 14.2
Cruise range on the highway is 13.9 to 14.1
Wot range is 12.8 to 13.0

I am running an Edelbrock 1813 AVS. I get the occasional very small ping under wot. I am going to try pulling the timing back to 32 from 34. I would like to see the wot 12.5 but not sure were to start.

I run the FAST EZ EFI on a mild 440 and your AFR is leaner than what I run. Idle 13.6, cruze 13.8, WOT 12.6.

You need to fatten up WOT. might be able to go leaner on cruise.

Just remember one thing, your idle setting will affect all other settings too.

You will only be able to find out what your setup runs best on by testing and tuning.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

TAKE NOTES!

You're sitting pretty good now. Write down the settings you have. That way if your changes don't work out (or don't work out as the weather changes) you know what the previous settings were.

I took it for a drive tonight and without changing anything I am getting:

idle: 14.0 - 14.2
cruise: 14.4-15.0
wot:12.7-13.0

I did notice that when the cruise was up to 15.0 you could just slightly feel it starting to hesitate a small amount. When I leave a stop you also feel it lean out for a split second. I seen the a/f go to 22.0 then back to roughly 14.0. Also when you are in cruise and you slightly lean into the throttle it will go lean up to 16.0 then back to 14.0 within a second. I may have to change the metering springs. My readings have changed a small amount, could be due to the weather. Ambient was 72f. I guess the density of the air and RH will affect it also. I ordered the metering rods.
