Hi!

I want to order a set of Indy 440-1 heads.

They are going in a pump gas 512 400 based short block.

Do you think these heads are the best choice???

I would be interested in the complete setup that Indy advertises for around $3900 bucks.

However Id like to have em CNC ported....and blueprinted and gone over by a good shop that knows these heads.

I ahve also heard that is better to stay away from the Indy Rockers and go with the T&Ds or Jesels instead????

Thanks and im all ears....

Jeff at Modern Cylinder Head has a great CNC porting progra for the -1 heads and he is good to work with.

His 345cc CNC port job made 955hp on my 557ci Kieth Black motor.

He will also correct Indy's mistakes...

Good luck,

Arnie

I called Dwayne originally about CNC porting my Eddy RPM and he said to call Jeff at Modern CCylinder Heads Jeff phone # 586-468-7914. I've had Jeff CNC port several sets of heads for me now, one set of Eddy RPM, one set of B1-BS and two sets of 440-1, all of them made great power

That's because Dwayne doesn't offer a CNC program for anything but Indy heads. Makes sense to me...

Another vote here for Dwayne Porter as your Go To person for prepped Indy heads.

Another vote for Dwayne Porter

If I didn't get the 'offer I couldn't refuse' on My Chapman Maxies I would have done a set of 'Porter-1's' on my 517.

If you're doing a pump gasser a higher velocity port (same CFM but smaller cross section for better part throttle torque) might work better than the -1, it really depends on your combo and where you want the powerband to go. Of course there's no doubt a well ported -1's will make MAD power and torque but on pump gas and more streetable cam timing you might produce a broader average torque curve with a 'faster' port that has more velocity down low and through the middle.

Might think about Nick Wilson at Compuflow. He hand ports the heads, very nice work. Like Dwayne a nice guy to talk to.

Hey everyone, Brian (OU812)is good people...

I have bought a cam and a couple sets of lifters from Brian and he took the time to really think through the specs. The result was a 9.50 with my old 470 stock block motor in the Cuda.

Cheers,

Arnie
