Hi, I am almost finished degreasing my 70 'Cuda and documenting the factory paint/primer/overspray on the undercarriage. I expected to find the typical "Gray" primer on the undercarriage but found "Black" instead. It is an LA built car. I know it is factory and has never been repainted - the car has never been apart until now. This is verified by all of the previous owners - right back to the first one. I am going to put the car back the way I found it - black - but wondered if anybody else has ever seen this color on the undercarriage before? I know it shouldn't bother me, but, I can already hear the know-it-alls at shows telling me Chrysler never painted their undercarriages black. So, please tell me this is common and that maybe the gray is a little more common than the black. What have all of you found over the years on the undercarriages? Thanks for your input. Nothing is more correct than what your car originally had, regardless of what detail is being discussed, photograph and document what you find and duplicate it to the best of your ability and you should do just fine.
and save some pictures of how you found it originally in case you run into any of those nay sayers at shows.
