Slowly making progress with the install of my new 540 in the Dart Sport. Today I adjusted the shifter cabe and discovered that I have no park. Disconnected the cable and manually moved the lever on the trans and still nothing. The trans is a 727 with a Tranzact transbrake valve body. What would cause this and can it be fixed without pulling the trans ? Thanks, Randy

Randy, sounds like the park rod missed the parking paw or the rod isnt there... you can drop the pan and you will need to drop the VB... but its fixable in the car

If that turns out to be the problem, re-clock the snap ring as far clockwise as it will go...that way the bottom ear of the snap ring will prevent the rod from dropping down into the gap.

if the rod happens to be in there then it might be for a 904 as they are different length than the 727 rod's,,,just sayin'

Thanks for they help and the pictures, especially the one of the window that the rod runs through. It really helped me understand what my builder was describing to me. I pulled the pan yesterday afternoon and called my builder. He mentioned that he could possibly have put the 904 rod in by mistake. Turns out there was no rod installed. He's a pretty busy guy and mistakes happen. Just glad it wasn't full of fluid yet!
Randy
Well that was simple enough to figure out... is he giving you a 727 rod... is he local

Hi Mike. Actually, Sean had one from a trans that he gutted to use for mock-up. Had it laying in a bucket in the garage.
Randy
That works

Went over to Randy's last night to hear the new beastly 540 with my own 2 ears! All I can say is WOW! Sounds AWESOME with open headers..in a garage! That Dart Sport's gonna fly..if the chassis can handle all that NEW power...and torque! Best of Luck with it,Randy!
Glad to hear he got it fired
