I have seen several pictures of Butterscotch cars online but only one in the flesh which was in Albuquerque at a Mopar show this last summer. The car was a 71 RoadRunner and the paint was pretty old. The color looked darker than the unexposed parts of my Challenger that have the original color still. I have to make a decision soon as to what color to paint my car but I am torn. If Butterscotch looks in the flesh as flat as the paint I saw then I dont want it. What I see under the speaker tray and under the window seals looks like it has some pop to it but what I saw looked kinda dead. What do you guys who have seen the color in person think?

what you saw was probly very old, I personaly love the color you either love it or hate it, if your car is original el5 you might want to keep it. what I like about it is you see millions of b-5 blue cars but not alot of butterscotch.

My first 71 dart was butterscotch. Part of the back was repainted, but the rest was original paint. Didn't look dull at all when I kept it washed and waxed. I didn't mind it since it had a black vinyl top and blacked out rocker panels. I think it needs some other color to break it up.

I didn't mind the color, but I did get some not-so-kind comments from others, especially non-car guys.

Yeah I fully expect going in that I will get negative comments, I dont care what others think too much though. My car was Butterscotch/white/white with white painted pinstripes that I will be changing to the vinyl non R/T stripes. So it will have plenty of white to break it up. The best looking car I saw was a 71 R/T with hood blackout, black top and black side stripes. Thanks for the comments. I will be honest, it is not my favorite color but knowing that it is a rare color is one of the reasons I have wanted to keep the color. My only other choice is 1969 Q5 which looks awesome with a white top and gut.

The BS in clear coat paint is a whole new ball game, and along with the white it is awesome. I think once you do it you will wonder why you thought about any other color.

Pretty much why I dont post here much. There is not much room to let your hair down and be yourself when you have online trolls looking to massacre you at every post. Thanks to everyone else who actually had something positive to say.

I'm sure he's only kidding around with you. A sense of humor doesn't always come across on the keyboard like it does in person.

Post some pictures of your car if you do go back to the butterscotch. I have only seen it contrasted with black and would like to see it with white.

Years back at the Nats there was a EL5 Duster twister that had the hood black out and white stripes and interior. I thought it looked great.

With the two stage paints that everyone uses these days the color is for a lack of a better word very rich looking. You may want to have your body guy spray a part of the car to see if you like it.

I was in the same boat, with the same thoughts...I'm glad I kept the original EL5

It seems to be one of those colors that pops in the sunlight, but can look drab on a gray day. More of a Medium Impact color, IMO. I love the color and would suggest you go ahead with it.

I think this is a member's car, and it's gorgeous in EL5 :

There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama & people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good.

I'm pretty sure that EL5 wasn't made a high impact (extra cost) color until sometime during the model year.
