I took my car to the track for the first time with the new TKO600. The clutch is fine on the street, but at the track it slips so bad I might as well be in neutral. Freewheeled to the rev limiter in both 1st and 2nd, then I just backed out of it.

It is a Keisler suggested SPEC stage 3 10.5". I argued with the tech on the phone, concerned if the clutch would be stout enough and he swore up and down that it would hold. I shoudl have know better!

Any suggestions for a 10.5" street/ strip clutch that will hold 710ft lbs in 3600 lb car?

I'm going to pull the trans this week and order the replacement.

I always had good luck with CFDF clutches. Never in anything with the power of your car, but a heavy 4x4 truck with a 440. I know someone on here has the information you need.

Sounds like you have plenty of tire grip at the track. With that much weight and torque I think you're going to have to consider a dual disc setup. I know McLeod makes one, but I don't have any personal experience with them.

A stock rag disc /pressure plate will hold up with the weight and 10.5 slick if you have the proper gear for racing. What gears are you running? stock gears will smoke any disc.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Thanks for the input. I am running 3.91 gears, 28x12.5 ET Streets, and Caltracks with monoleafs. Car hooks good, just cannot hold the clutch.

Just hoping some of the other stick shift guys on the forum have a clutch that they really like. The SPEC was only rated at 600 ft lbs, and I'm sure that was in a lighter car.

I am in the process of installing a Mcleod RXT twin disc on my Challenger with a TKO600. There are a couple people on here that gave it good reviews.
Mcleod makes 2 versions a RST and RXT. RST has organic discs and the RXT has ceramic discs similar to their 600 series disc.

I too would say the McLeod dual disk. It should hold no problem.

I have an old Street Twin set-up in my Dart. It hooks good. Almost too good. There is no slip what so ever. I've come off the line already spinning when they had just prepped the starting line. I run 31x18.5x15's.

I vote dual disc too. I got a RST McLeod in my duster and love it. Drives like a stocker and holds great.

call spec and talk to them, i had a 3+ in my dart for a short time. had a issue with it slipping. sent it back to them and they fixed it up. hit so hard when i got it back the trans broke. then i decided i needed a slipper clutch.. still have it, sure i'll use it in a serious street car one day.

I ran a RST 23 spline dual setup on the street and track behind 525+hp and it was perfect. I just took it out and it looks like I just bought it. Never slipped at all.

I'm probably going to sell that unit soon....because....

I just upgraded to an 18 spline setup and obviously needed a new clutch. I got a clutch with my purchase and I like it on the street so far, but haven't been to the track yet.

The RST should be good for the 800hp like they claim. Great clutch!
