I've got a '72 340 with the cast crank going into my '72 340 4 speed Demon. Does this engine take a special flywheel? I know the steel crank 340 used a neutral balanced flywheel and the 360 used the cast crank flywheel and are not interchangeable. Can I use the 360 flywheel on this engine or is there a different one for the cast crank 340? Thanks

Different flywheel for the 72/73 cast crank 340 . I had a 318 flywheel rebalanced for my 73 340...
I am truckless..

Thanks a million John. After looking at your diagram I check through my stash and found this flywheel. The number isn't in my interchange book but it sure looks like the one diagramed. What do you think? 2264598

2264598 is the casting number, it was used on all 130-tooth installations from '62 into the nineties....the various external balance configurations gave it a different part number but the casting number stays the same.
That looks like the correct one for a cast crank 340.
