We are running Hoosier Bias 29.5x10.5-15 D06 and when the tires are new (basically 1/2 a season old; we run about 9-10 races a year) we don't have any issues. But as the tires age, we are experiencing tire shake 10-20 feet out up to the 60' clock (usually during the wheelstand). Pressure is 12-14 lbs (changing it didn't help). Tried different shock settings. We have rotated the tires. Car is a 64 Dodge Polara running NSS, 493 wedge making about 650-700 HP, Auto with 2.77 first gear, 4.10 Dana with Caltracs. Typical ETs are 9.95 to 10.10 at 135 mph. When it doesn't shake, 60' times are in the 1.35 range; when it shakes, it drops to 1.46. It is not wheel hop and is not noticeable when viewing outside the car, but the driver can feel it (shakes the tach& dash pretty bad). Car weighs 3500 w/driver. Footbrake car. Hoosier says the sidewalls are not designed for a 3500 lb car and we can't go any wider. They suggested lowering the pressure so the tire cups at launch and spins (from less contact area) since the tire is biting hard and rolling over on itself. Anyone experience this problem and what did you do (besides buying new tires mid season)?

Yes. Hoosier doesn't make a stiffer sidewall (they suggested a shorter tire and I don't want to do that due to the finish line rpms). Goodyear? M/T? Phoenix?

I personally like M/T stiff sidewall slicks, but a buddy has been running Goodyear radial slicks the last couple years and his car has been deadly.

How often do you balance them

IMO in that size tire M/T prety much rules the roost. We run the M/T stiff sidewayy 29.5x10.5 tire on the heads up car. Do you have video of what is happening? Be interested in seeing what you have going on.

We balance them when they are mounted. There is no vibration at speed. There is a Hoosier dealer nearby, so they install and balance for free.

Don't have good video of the car when this occurs. I watch it at launch and do not notice any shake.

Wondering why running tubeless will help? May look at the M/T tires for next season. Will probably throw on a new set of Hoosiers this Friday since we are at Maple Grove this weekend.

Usually, when we go into tire shake (nitrous cars though). We just through a little more power at it sooner to eliminate the tire shake. It will cause a little more tire spin but not going up in smoke unless on a marginal track.

See if you can video a run and play it back in slow motion I'll bet your wadding the tire up on the launch, try some more air pressure, my Stocker use to do that with 9x30x15 Firestone bias plys at 13 to 15 lbs pressure(tubeless), rasing the pressure to 17 lbs(on my gauge) cured that and improved the 60 ft. times. My 60 ft. times where not as good as yours are Sometimes when things are really good you got to live with the bad things that come with success

This may not help as I have a dragster and run big tires, but I took the tubes out and left all the screws out as well and the tire shake went away. The man that told me to try that said if I wanted to keep the tubes I would have to put about 18 screws per side.
You may want to try it with out the tubes and screws, won't take much time or $$$ to try.
PS I marked the tires at the valve stem and they have not moved.
