I wanted to see where to locate a electric fuel pump with a stock tank. Holley wants it below the tank but that would be difficult. My car originally had it above the tank and its mounted horizontally no less and worked. I just upgraded to 1/2" and now it wont pull. Just looking for ideas where to mount.

I run a stock tank and sending unit but I did put a 3/8 sending unit in with the stock float so my gas gauge still works good. I run a Firecore 140 pump and actually have it mounted in front of the tank bolted to the floor between the shocks. Been there for years with no problem at all. I would think you will have to use a frame rail to try and get the pump below or even with the stock tank as I plan to do that later. Ron

I mounted mine between the back of the tank and the frame rails. Really tight fit, but makes it really clean too as the valance panel covers it up. I ran the 3/8 stock pick up but added another 3/8 line for the 2nd pump. Never had an issue with fuel starvation using stock tank.

On my old 64 Plymouth it was mounted just above the rear. You can see the 3-point mounts in the right side of the trunk (don't have an underside pic). We had a stock tank with a Carter electric pump mounted on the supplied "L" bracket.

You SHOULD have it mounted low and at the rear of the
tank... remember that its atmospheric pressure thats
pushing the fuel in so if its up high you need to have
a high level of fuel to prime it

On a racecar. Ours was a street/strip car like Ron's and if I remember correctly the stock pickup was at the front of the tank which made it easy to connect to the fuel pump near the shock mount. On our present car the pump is in the tank with a rear pickup.
