I have a 1970 GTX with a burnt orange interior (P6K4) where everything is orange but the seats, armrests, headliner and visors which are white. Build date is 7/10/70

So, did it come this way from the factory or did a former owner swap everything over? The back seat does look like it has some original hog rings holding the skin on, fronts have clearly been redone. No build sheet.

I have seen one other 1970 GTX with the same combo, I'm waiting to hear back from the owner.

Oh, and does anyone know why a GTX would come with column shift? No Console!! It was a sales bank car but still seems odd.

Gary

Is your interior code P6KW , if so that is Burnt orange and WHITE .

Column shift was standard , car could be optioned with a buddy seat or a console or nothing.

Fender tag indicates P6K4, I'm waiting to hear back from the other GTX owner with same setup. Odds are when the car was redone in the past that they went with white due to the fact orange parts were not available like armrests. Its also possible that the factory ran out of orange stuff too, but I'd have to see some documentation before leaning that way.

On the column shift- Never seen a GTX without a console, hence my question. Looking over at http://www.hamtramck-historical.com the documents do indicate that console was extra, I guess who ever "spec'd" the car out for the sales bank didn't check off that option.

Edit- Heard back from Roger from the GTX registry, the car were discussing was built on the very last day of 1970 production and is 10th from the last car to roll off the line that has been documented.

Sounds like someone swapped the seats and such as it should be all orange .

Sales bank just cranked out cars to have in inventory

I used to have a P6K4 70 Roadrunner. Those parts were all burnt orange. Cool color. My exterior was burnt orange also.

Cool car.

VIN sequence does not equal production sequence.

There is no way to know in what order cars 'rolled off the line'. All we know is there are at least nine more VINs that are higher than this car.

One board member here has a 70 GTX with burnt orange interior with white seats as well. I'm waiting to hear back from him about the details.

Dave, I assume these were the original belts. I don't rememeber if I ck'd the dates or not( customers car ) I remember it was kinda odd, but I did some ck'ing and I came up with several cars with the same combination.

ps. the 2 tone burnt orange with white interior was in fact avail in 1970 B-bodies

This would now be the third vehicle I have seen with this combo.

I'm inclined to think my car has the wrong color seats but then again why go to the trouble of changing some many other parts and leaving the rest? With such a late production date I'm going to do a lot more research before spending a few grand changing things "back" its very possible this is the way it left the plant back in 1970.

I'll take pics and post in a bit.

Oh and the seat belts? 26th week of 70 for the front, 27th week for the rear.

How long have you owned the car ?

If this car has been re-done back in it's past . It's very likley it could have been done at that time. ( I would have )

Headliner looks new, sunvisors dyed, what interior parts look to be original & are white?

WAG but it looks like a prior owner changed all the white parts from "burnt orange".
