How is this clip used to attach the cable end to the door pivot pin?

The cable goes through the two slots and the hole around the pivot arm thing.The slots face up also.Would be better if someone had a picture.

Just thinking that you need to place the holder on the pin, then use pliers (gently) to pull the one side (number 3 ) in line with number 1 & 2 and then install the cable ??? The number three should hold it in place, as it wants to spring back to it's original position ????
