The M-1 dual plane would work best on a mild, street only small block. I compared a Weiand Stealth, which appears very similar to an LD-340, to a Holley Strip Dominator (very similar to the single plane M-1) on my race-only combo and the Weiand dual plane was only about a tenth slower than the single plane Holley. But I have a lot of gear, converter and cam duration, which stays over 5,000 rpm once the converter flashes, and the single plane liked it better. I figure for anything less, the LD-340 should be better overall. Of course, carb tuning will be different and will be a factor in the final results.
See if the LD-340 will like 2 jet #'s leaner on the shallow plenum side or 2 #'s richer on the deeper plenum side. Jet for MPH and squirters and pump cams for 60'-330' times.

Going back to the duel plane for better streetability. Think I'm going with a vac. secondary 750 holley too. Just making it a cruser. Already changed out my torque converter to a more streetable setting, and my rear gear is now 3.23's down from the 3.91's. Looks like I might be building my stock motor again, and putting it back in (sometime in the near future). That's all.

I have one on my street 360 in the Coronet and ran one in the drag Duster for several years till I sold the car. It ran consistant 11.40's with a best of 11.349 with a 360.
Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks.
But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

If that question was directed to me.......I swapped the intakes at the track and had time to try some different jetting and accellerator pump changes. I just don't recall if it was all in one, long test-&-tune day or also included the next day which provided time trials and a race. Weather was taken into consideration, but conditions were similar.

I run a LD4B(318 small port) and the LD340, I wont get rid of mine anytime soon.
I tried the airgap but went back to the LD340,I gained nothing with the airgap. did not lose anything but saved $ as I borrowed the airgap for a T&T run down. glad Don gave me that same advice when I was looking to buy an airgap
when I was growing up the LD340 is all I ever heard about on the SB 340, even hear it still today.
