The old Mopar sponsored Top fuel, funny cars and Prostockers (not 1100 hp back then on the Pro stockers) all ran them back in the 1970 and 1980s but I'm pretty sure the top fuel guys had that much times three I'm sure the application and use will have a lot to do with how long any component last in the drive train

The dana will be fine as long as you don't need a pro gear below 4.10. even then it will be fine, it will just go thru street gears pretty quick

The rear is plenty big enough for most applications, so the materials and setup of the gears are the variables. Proper setup can mean a long or short life. I hammer mine pretty good, and I am sure the transbrake, 900 hp and 3050 lbs combined with 15 inch wide slicks really put it to the test! The 4.56 gears I have in mine have about 300 passes on them, no problems. Of all the things that can hurt a rear, the shock loads of a transbrake is tops.

Dana 60 is a good rearend for high horsepower cars. We change gears every 200 runs and inspect all other componets. We have had good luck with ours. poppaj

The only dana I have ever seen break is mine, pinion bearing fell apart and chipped away the teeth. On the other hand, I have seen about a dozen 9" ford rears spit the pinion right out of the case.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I beat on mine pretty hard. Had a very stought small block well over 900HP with two nitrous kits on top and did not hurt the ring and pinion. Snapped an aluminum spool but it was seven years old.

Upgrade to the Jana 76, it puts a 10.5" ring gear in a 60 housing. good for 8000 ft lbs of momentary torque, a stock 60 is good for around 6000 ft lbs of momentary torque....

Say it ain't so Joe! I thought that was the only indestructable rear end in the world, I'm crushed .
