OK so I was wondering what size wheel and backspacing would I need to put a 29x12.50 micket thompson sportsman street tire on a stock width 8-3/4 in a 68 dart? Anybody running a combo like that? I was guessing a 10" wide rim with a 7" backspacing? I have measured from the frame out to the lip on the qtr and its 0ver 15" wide so should be plenty of room with the right wheel and tire combo. Thanks in advance for any input.

7.5" is what I needed with that tire and a stock width a-body 8-3/4 housing and a 15x10 wheel (not many choices there either)...needless to say I got rid of those tires in a hurry when all they did was spin no matter where I used them

chris, what you are saying is spot on. a 10" wheel with 7 " rs will fit with room to spare.you can fit an 11" wheel with 7 7/8 rs if you really need the width but a 10"will give you more room

MY car had 12 X 15 Centerlines with an 8" backspace on a stock width 8.75 A Body rear when I got it. Its a mini tubbed to the rails '73 Dart Sport. It also had 14.5 x 28 Quick Time Pros which have a 12.5" tread width. Hope this helps-Randy

Mini-tubbed and leafs moved into the frame rails w/stock width a-body 8 3/4 here and my last 12" rims had 7 1/2" bs w/a bit of room to spare and now my 10`s are 6 1/2 bs and fit much better w/a 29x13.5 Hoosier QTP`s which put 11 1/4 inches on the ground.........

that sounds great except I know where it is and who I would have to go through to get it!! Besides, that car WILL rise again!!! I don't need a dana right now,and funds are tight.Trying to get a little done so I don't go crazy. How much??

Anybody know if a 15x9.25 wheel with a 6 inch backspacing would work? these are 29x 12.50 m/t sportsman tires.

Dont forget to go to the manufacturers website and get the EXACT section width .

Right now on my dart-- Ive got 29x11 Eagles on a 10x15 Weld with 7.5" b.s.

springs moved in and mini tubbed. PLENTY of room both sides .

I just did the same thing. Mini tubs and springs are moved in. I went with a 15x10 by 7.5" BS. I still have plenty of room on both sides.
