I have a close to stock 360 in my street rod. I need some ideas of what temp sending unit to use for the electric fan I have for the radiator. 165 deg, 180 deg, on temp.
Tell me what you think?
Thanks for the post

I use a k car or early caravan/voyager fan switch
It comes on at 180 & shuts off at 172
1/2 npt 2 terminals works great
Been using them for almost 30 years now

you want our "on" temp to be about 20-30 degrees above the rating of your Thermostat. you want your "off" temp to be about 5 degrees above your thermostat.

why?

if your thermostat opens up at 180, then your fan turns on at 190, but won't shut off until 170, your engine will cool down to 180, and the thermostat will close up, but the fan will keep running because it's looking to shut off at 170.

then your fan will NEVER shut off once the engine is up to operating temp.

so, the answer to your question is: "what is your thermostat rating?"
