I'm kind of interested in a Jerico in a b-body for a future project. Will one of these transmissions fit in a b-body with a stock 4-speed trans tunnel? Does the shifter come out through the stock shifter hole in the tunnel? Also, this is a newb question, but do you have to lift at all to up shift? I've seen a few in car videos and it looks like people are quickly lifting between shifts.

hi, the tunnel on right side might need to be cut out some, depends. the jerico is square on top. the shifter can come through same hole, depends on shifter used. the long shifter will require a bigger hole.
you do not lift , shifting these trans. you can lift some and double clutch if driving easy. on full throttle , toe tap the clutch pedal, and pull handle. the trans requires a clutch to come out of gear, not going into gear. you have to fabricate a trans mount to fit, change front yoke to a turbo 400(, 1350 joint), which means a drive shaft
I shift mine foot on the floor , it shifts faster than a mopar trans.
its worth the effort!! jerico is lot stronger.

Like he said, and you have to modifiy the crossmember too. I modified mine and boxed it so it was much stronger than factory. And, like he said, it's worth the trouble. It's almost effortless to shift at WOT.

The fabrication part is no problem at all. The car I'm considering this trans in is already rotisery painted and clear coated underneath. I was worried about having to cut on perfect paint underneath... What clutches are you guys running? McLeod soft lock? Did you guys purchase direct from jerico? What did these set you back?

hi, clutch is a mcloed soft lok, yes, purchase trans from jerico, unless, you find a used one. my jerico cost $2500 with a long shifter
It was used , had 20 runs on it. I got lucky.

I did some cutting on mine, if you don't want to ruin a perfect rotisserie paint job you may want to shy away. If you pm me your email address I think I still have some pictures I can send you. I do know one guy who used a Hurst shifter and made his own mounting bracket and didn't cut his car up too much.

I use a Tim Hyatt clutch (he uses Mcleod parts), he's a great guy, I can send you his contact info too.

I bought mine from a guy who didn't finish his project so it was new and I saved a few bucks. I think they were around $3600.00 with the shifter brand new to your door, but that price was from 3-4 years ago.
You can find them used with a shifter for around $2500.00 but watch the gear ratios, a lot of NASCAR trannies show up on ebay and racingjunk. Mine is a 309 first gear.

Greg Lorsbach "old iron" has/had a shifter set-up he modified to use the stock location with a Jerico in his Plymouth .
I have a Jerico in my Cuda` with road-race sliders and you can shift with OR without the clutch.
I had planned to street it someday so I looked for one like this.
Easy shifting trans. Not sure how you could miss a gear in one of these.

PS. I`ve read that if you use 80w90 gear lube instead of the recommended synthetic it shifts much nicer at low/street speeds

That would be the guy I was talking about

Pretty good info here. I appreciate the feedback. Here is my deal. My car was originally a 67 GTX 440, 4-speed, Dana car. My current build for the car is a 6.1 HEMI with what will probably end up being a big single turbo and a TH400 with a brake. The goal on good gas is to see a quadruple digit dyno pull and an 8.99 time slip in a car that will see probably 75% street duty. Pretty much everyone in that power level with a turbo runs a built TH400. I'm honestly having kind of a hard time putting an automatic in it. I would need a super stout manual that could stay pinned inbetween shifts so the turbo stays spooled. A regular clutch shifted trans would never work. I would probably blow it to pieces, and if it lived, it would probably rob me near a second in ET. I think the Jerico would be kick a$$. I guess the only down fall would be street driving would be a pia...or so I've heard... That is a bit of a turn off for a car that will see so much street time. Opinions?

A guy on theturboforums.com is building a Duster with a nash Richmond 5-speed. I'm not sure how much street time he is planning, but how does this trans compare to the Jerico as far as Cost, reliability, performance, streetability.

This too is a dog ring trans, right?

Never used one, but I would look at a liberty for those power levels.

I'm going to drag this thread back from the dead. What is the difference between the standard DR4 sliders, and the road race sliders? Is there a difference in shifting performance? How much easier is it to down shift with road race sliders?

I don't have any experience w/rr sliders but below is from the UMTR website

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't have a WC-4 but my DR-4 does have the road race sliders and I run the H-pattern shifter. The road race sliders work just fine for drag racing. Jerico told me I wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between the race and road race sliders at the track. Powershifting from 2nd to 3rd with the H-pattern is no problem..I've never missed it. As long as the gear ratio's are ideal for the dragstrip I would say you'd be ok. If you have a pretty high horsepower vehicle there may be some strength issues though. I think the circle track Jericos have a different heat treatment on the gears and they may be a little harder=more brittle.

Here is a video of my car with the road race sliders and H-pattern shifter on my Jerico, you can't see the shifting but you can hear it:

Thanks for posting that. I'm still curious as to how much better the road race sliders down shift though...
