Well I got the truck running sans the hood. Figured I'd take the truck to Climax and gas it up. (Climax, Minnesota, 5 miles up the road from me.)
I don't have a cross bar on the rollbar hoop so I didn't do anything crazy with it yet. I brought it up to about 30-40mph and got into the throttle part way. All I can say is WOWWW!!!!!!!!! It tryed to pick the drives side front tire up. I've got a new set of M/T P315/60R-15's on the back, they never spun, just dead hooked. This thing is a Monster on the street.
Still have a few little gremlins that I have to sort out, clearance the drivers side valve cover, a couple of wiring issues, anti-roll bar needs to go in yet, and the crossbar on the main hoop, have to adjust carb linkage as the carbs are idling to high.
I almost forgot how much fun it was to drive it as it's been over a year since it's been on the road. The 528 made it pretty quick, this 605 just made it insane. Dave

Congrats on the first drive with the big bad elephant! You've discovered two self-evident truths when it comes to hot street machines: insane is good thing, and too much horsepower is just enough!

I hope he brought a towel, and a cigarette.

You know Dave, The first time I got into the throttle I was thinking of you and your Duster. The way the truck reacted reminded me of the ride you gave me in your old Duster. The same brutal acceleration. Dave

Glad you have it (maybe) close to done. I know it never will be. Always something to improve.
Stop in sometime if you are ever over this way.

Sounds like it was worth the effort and time.

Dave, congrats on your maiden run to Climax ( a fitting name BTW ). Do you plan on making any of the cruise nights this summer? I can see it now when you pull in the lot; all the ferds/chebys will be running for the hills.

Don; You can count on it, if and when I get over your way you better have the coffee pot on
Bob; Thankyou once again, without your help I'd still be scratching my head.
Larry; I sure hope to drag it over to Forks for cruise nite sometime this summer.
Welded in the new crossbrace on the main hoop tonite. Got the new 5 point harness in too. Next project is installing a anti-rollbar for the 4-link. Dave
