What is the correct fan used on a 1970 440-6 motor? This has the 4:10 rear and 4 speed combo. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

did it matter if it was an automatic of manual?...was the torque fan only used on sixpacks or was it used on all big blocks...? just trying to get educated on this fan. ..........also.....what is the purpose of this fan?

Same fan stick or auto , same fan used on all big blocks with max cooling.

Purpose of the fan ... to keep the engine cool by helping to pull air thru the radiator at low speeds.

If we're talking Superbird, it would be a fixed fan

Automatic cars without low gear could come with a 22" radiator and a fixed blade fan but with a four speed you got the 26" radiator and the clutch type fan.

If you are chasing part numbers, I believe you would be looking for a "216" fan and an "070" clutch. If you have your broadcast sheet you can look at the numbers on it but I think those a 99% sure thing.

Sounds like a cool car. Hope you share some pictures when you have it done.

True, but not all 440-6's got max cooling; that was an axle package thing (and of course, all 4spds got an axle package)

Is the power steering cooler also standard on the Axle Packages?

was there suppose to be a cover in front? when looking at mine you can see the spring. I've seen pictures of others with the visible spring and others with a cover?
