you're gonna have to give some info on the motor. But there are so many variables in this equation, that anything here is gonna be purely a guess. I recently went from a budget 11" ACC 3500 converter, to a custom made Lupo Dynamic 9-1/2", and enitial passes would suggest I picked up over a tenth in 60', and a few tenths in E.T.

Only way to find out is gonna be to make passes.

If the stall comes back at a true 4200 the ET and 60 ft reduction is going to be very good. How much is up to debate, but my WAG is .3 to .5,plus maybe some mph. Instead of 150 hp at the launch you will have what ever it makes at 4200 minus some loss for slippage. So it will pull that much harder all the way to when the car would have reached 4200 rpm with the old converter. Please post results when you can.

4200 sounds like a lot of flash for an essentially stock 318 with a mild cam. I'd get ahold of a converter company (I had a great experience with Shaun @ Dynamic, but I've heard Lenny at Ultimate is as good as gold also) and talk to them about what you want and what you have.

4200 is a prorated number. The customer is located in Arizona with a lot of heat and thin air factored into the selection also. This as well as all the specs on his combo was gone over in great detail before a selection was made. The 318 has a 3.31 stroke and notoriously low on low end torque, therefore you would want to have the loose enough to get into the torque of the engine as well as having good lockup capabilities. I very confident this customer is well on his way to a substantial improvement all the way around.

I would venture .5 with better launch and then better shift recovery.
maybe more!

With one of Lennys converters expect a huge performance gain.

4,200 sounds right on the money to me.. if it doesn't spin the tires or run out of fuel on the top end, I figure it'll run 12.60's-12.80's...

Lenny, would a converter set up for this combo work OK with a 3.73 gear and 28 inch tires? Mostly street, need decent lockup at cruise of 60 to 65 mph and able to keep it cool with a big trans cooler.

I would think so. Depending on the whole combo and your data, you could configure this particular converter to work around your preferences.

My guess would be low 13.00s. I'm just guessing around 3500 pounds, which means about 300 hp. I don't see it picking up more than a tenth and a half in the sixty foot. Peak torque with that cam can't be above 3200rpm...even in a 318. The cool thing is that you could through a bigger cam at it with the new converter!
