STR for the win!
https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...e=1#Post7276275

Tory (Tshell) owner of STR makes these and they are perfect. It used ur stock spindles (mopar) use ur brakes, can be had in moly or DOM. Lots of options avail for a fraction of the price of the competitors. He's the new kid on the block so there are only a few of us that have them, so not a ton of cheerleaders (just me) .

So tell us more about it, and since you brought up "fraction of the price" what exactly is the price?

If its better then my alterkation and the price is right I'm all for it.

I don't have any stock spindles so they would also need to be supplied.

I'm sure you can get stock spindles for cheap... they just need to be reamed for large ball joints if they are not already. I can't tell you what I paid but from the convo with Tory the other day he said prices vary but one like mine would be approx $2800 with everything but brakes.

I never said it was better than anything.. try not to put words in my mouth as I have limited brain space that can only store so much.

I have the Alterkation going in my car and after looking at the STR unit I would definitely go with an Alterk.

I have an AlterKation in my Cuda and after looking at the STR yesterday I would have bought one if they were around at the time. Just like the look of round tube vs square. After racing for a few years with the RMS unit, I am happy with it.
I'm sure they both would work fine.

Thanks guys. After looking at prices of the alterKation kmembers, my dad said he can't afford that. So I am going to look at some of the others you guys have mentioned.

Yeah, it's pretty easy to get sticker shocked at Mopar tube components, after seeing the prices for Mustang k-members - this one here is only $350 and includes rack and engine mounts and is more complicated than the Mopar ones. I don't know of a Mopar tube k-member that sells for under a grand.

Unfortunately the parts for Mopars are a little more than for the mustang guys but hey its supply and demand.
Since i'm a buisness owner i look at things a little different than most other buyers.
I'm not bashing anybody but want to throw some things out there.

Is the part from a real company in the USA?
If he is he pays workmans comp and insuarance and more taxes.
Does he have a shop full of equipment and overhead?
Is he making a time tested part and will he be there in the future if i need him?
He is making a part for my not so popular chassis when he could be making them for the mustang crowd.

One last thing to keep in mind. Mopar owners are tough customers. Most put the price point before quality.

I have a question. Since you can use a rack and pinion with these, Will they make it where it puts the motor in the center of the car if you want? Thanks.

Couple of Q's here too.
How do your headers clear the new steering shaft? and how much front suspension travel? (for Caltrac users)
TIA

always be that way! however I try to find the happy medium for anything I buy (for what we got).... I use to spend all my monies on site sponsors across mopar boards... but now I spend my monies on business's who offers most to site tech wise and PM help(because realistically that's what us non pro's need)! brett did quote me a price at the show for his K setup in DOM with the motor mount option only as I don't need brakes or shocks... for partial kits this guy has currently been making some stuff at a good price also for stock K member stuff!

5" at the wheel for travel and header clearance is great. I might have some pics with the CPPA's in my car. I'll look

Well the Alter K on the smalle tire car works well for us.

Wish I knew the weight of the one Mike built for our car... I'm betting it's considerably lighter, and you're always saying what a "pig" the skinny tire car is....

One of the major reasons we went the direction we did was that Comp Chassis is within driving distance for me, and they've done good work for me in the past. They've built a few already for others, and they work fine from what I've heard . I never even priced out any others.

Great topic and I appreciate how it's stayed "on course"!
