wanted to ask other owners if their shifter would go from 1st to nuetral then to reverse without doing anything other than moving the shifter. This is of course a PRN123 pattern. While sitting mine will go from 1st thru nuetral then reverse. Just asking. Thanks. Birdtracker

1st to neutral, yes but, you should have to squeeze the
"T" under the handle to get past the lock-out gate.

You either have the cable way out of adjustment or possibly
the wrong gate?

The "T" under the handle may be stuck in the up position. Make sure it slides up and down without any drag. Mine started to hang up and I had to take it apart and widen the groove where the roll pin goes.

I never thought of that. The car shifts fine, and you have to squeeze the T to get out of park into reverse but after that R-N-1 there is nothing. Thanks for the idea. Birdtracker

Here is a pic of a spare 727 reverse manual gate plate I have. The shifter should move from park to reverse without having to lift up the handle, you should then have to lift the handle to get over the detent for neutral.

There are 2 different gates that will work with the 727...There other style 'springs' right into 1st, straight back into second, then pull left and down into 3rd. This style also is used for the C4 Ford.

That is the gate I have in my Dart for use with the clean neutral valve body. You should still be able to go straight from park to reverse and lift the detent to get to the forward gears.
