None of manuals show clearly haw to install the clips (that retain them to the levers) for the 4 speed shifter rods for my 70 Challenger. Anyone have a photo or tips on how they go on? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Joe

Those aren't stock clips. The stockers (IIRC) are circular, about the size of a quarter. The circular part rides against the lever, while the part that splits the circle goes through the hole in the rod. You have push the split part against the lever a bit as you simultaneously push it through the hole.

No they aren't stock, I'm guessing the positioning of the rods is whats causing his issues & thats all those pictures show... The clips themselves are pretty easy to install, I've always done it with my fingers so I don't see them as the issue....

Well, I have the correct ones but couldn't figure out how to get them on. The diagram in the link showed how they go. Thanks 1 Wild. You must have fingers of steel because these things are a pain. Got them all on except for one that went flying somewhere and now I can't find it.

Thanks for the help. If I can't find this one I'll have to order another one.

Well, move on to the Z bar I guess.

Now a days I probably couldn't do it my hands aren't as strong & hurt more, but there is a trick to how you apply pressure, kind of a twisting motion with extra pressure on the loop to get it to slide over the rod... Glad you got it worked out...
