Dart was painted by previous owner as much as 20-25 years ago, clear coat applied years later. CA car its whole life. Clear has been slowly flaking off for a few years.
Past few days I've left car outside under a cover, temps have been 90-95 with very high humidity and some rain, car usually kept in garage(Cleve, Oh). After taking cover off each morning I noticed the clear was flaking off in huge sections, much more than ever before. Just like sunburn on the skin.
Curious if this is a chemical reaction due to the weather conditions? Cover and car have both got wet, semi h2o resistant cover. I'm happy about it actually as the paint is decent and can be lived with for a couple years. I'm considering leaving it out more often if this the reason for the clear flaking off.
Thoughts?
