I 90% that this is the correct fan for a 1968 SS. The bug difference is the configuration of the rivets.
I also believe they used a 383 oil pan.
....there is nothing like driving my 1968 Hemi Dart around town and having people looking at you like you're nuts!!

Here is a shot of the wrong fan....see how the rivets are in a different order.

I just got home and I looked in my copy of "Authenticity Guide 1968 Dart and Barracuda Hemi Super Stock" written by Jim Schild & Larry Griffith. This is a VERY GOOD BOOK if your interested in these cars. ( email jschild@hte.net or www.theautoreview.com ) This book shows many of the different part numbers used in these engine IF they were DIFFERENT than the stock 1968 Hemi engine. It does not list a different part number for a oil pan so you could be correct in saying they used a 1968 Hemi pan. Learn something new everyday.

The 1/2 spacers lowered the k-frame and that lowered the whole assembly together... I think they used the hemi pan and just the way the hemi mounted to the k-frame raised the crank center which in turn raised the pan away from the steering linkage.

Ok, something had to change. If a big block B-body 440 pan won't fit a big block A-body, then a hemi pan shouldn't fit either unless the motor was moved up.
There are sure a lot of little tricks on those things. Next time someone sees Bob Tarozzi, thank him for figuring it out.

Thanks Dan,
Do you think a 70-1 hemi pan will work?
Or just take a #187 pan and add 1" or so!
