Engine light on, sometimes flashing. Code 0305 showing cylinder #5 misfire. Car driven about 12 miles back home after this first happened. Car is high mileage (17X K) but has been absoulutey trouble free so far. Oil changes, strut replacement, brakes, the plugs, and a new battery are the only service items to date.
I assumed cylinder numbering is traditional mopar of left bank is 1, 3, 5, and right is 2, 4, 6. So far my internet search has yeilded nothing to confirm that.
Inspected wiring then removed and inspected coil & plug. No clearly visable problems. Plugs replaced about 10K miles ago.Swapped out first coil, then plug with cylinder three. Still has miss and showing same code.
Think injector may be the problem.
Qustions 1. Am I right on cylinder numbering? 2A. Does the intake have to come off to get to the injectors? 2B. If not what is the trick to get under there? 2C. If so is it one piece or does part of it remove? 2D. What gaskets will be needed before I remove anything? 3. How can I test the coils? 4. How can I test the injectors?
I have a digital V.O.M., jumper wires, etc. I just need to know specs for resitance (OHM's) and any specific proceedures.
Please help if you can. Without going into a bunch of personal detail I can only say this is a bad weekend for this to have happened.

If they interchange move the #5 coil to another plug & see if the code follows the coil..

Thanks Savoy. I was looking at the wrong cylinder! Will go look at it again.

GTX6970, It is funny to me that you bring that up. I have to say that I had never known that, but did notice the opposite cylinder offset as our old mopars when I went back after savoy's reply.
1_wild, I had done the swapping thing, initially on the wrong bank. When I did it on the correct cylinder I saw spark jumping to the valve cover of the #5 that had been switched to #3. There is a slight crack in the housing.
I have a new coil coming now. I expect that to resolve my problem. I will post when I get it on and know for sure.
Thanks for the replies!

New coil installed & mis is gone. Check engine light is still on and code has not reset. Anybody have any idea how before the code resets?

You will need a code reader or a prolonged battery disconnect to get rid of the code.

The engine light went out while driving it this morning. I just checked, and the code is still there.
BTW. I had checked the plugs during diagnosis yesterday and they looked fine. Holes & plugs dry. Since the coil was arcing to the valve cover I think the plug was not completely out of spark, and run time had been minimal with the problem.
Since the engine light is off I am going to give it some time to see if the code will reset after a number of restarts. If not, I will do something to reset it.
There was a fuse that I could pull in my '95 neon to kill the power to the PCM and reset codes. Anyone know of one on the concordes? The batteries on these things is after all, pretty inaccesible.
Thanks again for the replies. This forum is great for that!
