I am having an issue with my car niot wanting to turn over when I key the ignition. It acts like a car with too much timing. You can hear the starter soilenoid engage but the motor will not crank. I bounce the key back and forth you hear the starter hit two or three times, then the motor spins freely and fires.

I have replaced the battery, battery cables, starter, and starter relay (firewall). What is the best way to test and issolate the issue? The only thing I havnt replaced is the ignition switch.

The battery is trunk mounted, the timing is 12btdc, and the compression is 10.3. I am runinng 0 gauge wire for the battery directly the starter, and 0 gauge to the frame rail for ground. The starter is a RobbMc gear reduction starter.

Thanks for any help! I am going stir crazy with this issue.

ground the coil wire & repeat. If still bad it is not timing

Thanks for the input. I tested the timing thoroughly and it's not timing. Can anyone else think of what it might be?

Could the ignition switch be bad somehow? The only thing is that I hear the solenoid engaging so it is passing some current.

Thanks!

Have you got a trunk mounted cutoff switch. I have seen them cause excess resistence.

Yes I do. Any ideas how I can test the resistance with an OHM meter?

I'd just hook the positive cable to the starter to the battery directly and see how it starts. What cranking amp battery are you running?

Check the voltage drop at the starter while cranking. May need larger 1/0 or 2/0 cables EDIT was it always like this or just since you relocated the battery to the trunk or a recent occurance?
