Should poly bushing have grease applied to the inside before you install them? I am installing new poly bushing and leaf springs in a 69 Bee.

Thanks!

Won't hurt anything, but not necessary either.

I just did the leaf springs on my GTX. Came out great, nice project, made a big difference.

Every poly-to-metal contact-area should be greased.
Most important are the outsides of the bushings. Lack of sufficient grease here will cause squeaks.

Even beyond the squeeking is you want the suspension to move free and without bind up and down. You can over tighten the shackles and cause binding. That keeps the suspension from being repetitive. The proper torque and keeping them lubed are critical in our leaf spring race cars we run.

do you know the torque rates off by hand?

Why not put grease-able pins or bolts into the leaf springs? I have them on my 4x4 truck and they work great.

By feel.

Best is to disconnect the rear shocks and loosen the shackle bolts. Bounce the rear of the car. Then tighten, bounce again. Keep doing until the car doesn't bounce as good. Then back torque to previous go around.

The shackles have shanks so you can't overtighten those. The fronts have sleeves as well. Put a lot of grease where the bushing meets the hanger.
