I'll take a guess...

Is the first five a three, perhaps, or no?

3986, if it's the 10k calendar date would = 6/26/1972, and 023 = 23rd trans built that day

498327 should be the sequence number, but that seems high- 498,327 vehicles produced in '72? If the above 10k date is correct, it would be very late into the '72 model year, so it should be a high sequence number, but I have no clue how high they went in '72. The "2" before the "-" = '72. Can you read what the plant code number is, or is there just a dash in that location?

Wasn't '72 the year of the UAW strike, or was that at GM only?

I'd "assume" if 2 lines of info:

2B498327
PP833 3986 023

Hamtramck assembly is the only plant with 400000+ for the VIN sequence so the "B" would make sense for the 1972 model year.
A & E-bodies were built there, long or short tail shaft?
398327th vehicle at that plant, that model year.
