A buddy is looknig at the Street Lynx for his 66 Belvedere &has talked to Bill but Bill wasn't sure about a 66 car since he designed it for 68 - 70 b-Body's.

Any issues anybody can think of? Frame Rails should be the same & the Front spring segment is the same AFAIK from 66-70 so the lower bars should be the right length.

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work.

Gas tanks and tail pipes are different between 66-67 and 68-70.Might have some clearance problems.

The car is Mini-Tubbed now so the tailpipes are already moved. The tank shouldn't be a problem cause the coil-overs are in front of the axle with the Street Lynx.

I do see an issue now that I look closer at the Kit.

We were just double-checking that the framerails are the same 66-70 as much as anything...every thing else we can work around.

I guess we'll find out Rocky. I wondered about Springs moved & such but answered those questions myself on Bill's site.

I can't see it not working so I think he'll go ahead & order it. Actually the order will be for the B-body & an A-body at the same time. We stick a Classic Auto Air kit & the RMS rear in a friends A-body & he gets the B-body one bought for him as payment.

When we get it here & started I'll update.

My buddy talked to Bill yesterday & Bill measured the distance between the frame rails on a 68 he has there & it was within 1/4" of the 66 we have. The measurement was taken from the screw hole for the Axle bumper up in the arch of the frame rail. 43 3/4" for the 68 & 44" on my buddy's 66. That's where his "cage" bolts to for correct positioning & then you can either drill holes for other mounts or just weld.

Gives ya something to check. Looking through my old DC book it looks like the 65's have the same front spring segment length as thru 70 so the lower bars would be okay too.

65 had the shorter frt segment. Its like an inch difference for sure.I believe the MP book is wrong.I know for sure the 67 up springs are different.I have 3 sets of them in the garage.Im going to make a set with my 65s mains and an extra main from the 69s.Ill be moving the springs inboard probally this month.Rocky

I wondered about that...wouldn't be the first time the DC book (or a parts / service manual ) was wrong.

I do think 66-up to 70 is the same....we'll see I guess. Since the segments are different you could just drill the box member in different spots for the difference between the 65 & later segment lengths. Or maybe get Bill to make a different length lower tube.

That's how my buddy's 66 is...for racing they moved the springs back 2" ( 20" front segment ) but also drilled the front box for the stock length too so he should be good to go.
