So I got the 440, 727 & 8 3/4 in the '56, but I am having a ton of minor issues. No big surprize, since everything from the radiator to the rear end has been fiddled with in the past few months. Last night it laid down on the road and had to be towed home, but I think we are narrowing down the issues. Gawd, I sure hope, anyway.
So, rather than be discouraged about details that keep cropping up, I figured I'd post a few pics of the installation and just take some encouragement from what has gone right.
I have a lot of detail pics I will post as time permits.

You can see how the off-the-shelf Hedman headers just clear the stock steering box:

Udder side: The low profile valve covers just fits under the heater box...just enough room to allow it to be removed.

I do, they have been on here a few times. The body is a "work in progress", I have collected nearly every oddball part I need to finish it, except lots of time & money

thanks - I made a real soft pass at the track Tuesday, nothing fell off or broke, so I think I am getting closer to calling it "done".

Mike,

You will get it sorted out. You have made lots more progress on your's than I have on mine since I was at your place!

It's getting a new torque converter this week to get ready for the Nats...doing burnouts on Rt.79 ain't going to be a problem this year!
Here's a pic from last week, my friend in the '57 Chevy has a real $100k+ in that car. Without a SG center chunk I was a sittting duck... like sitting in a cloud of tire smoke watching him drive away. There WILL be a rematch.

Thanks, Larry, but that might be a little too deep a gear for me. Now if you could come up with a nice 3:23 or 3:55 chunk...

So what ET's was the Chevy running? And you, for that matter?

Even with a suregrip, you might have trouble hooking up. May need to get a pair of those old school whitewall slicks. They have sort of a tread on them, so they could be driven on the street if you don't put too many miles per year on your Dodge.

The Chevy runs high 12's. My car runs...who knows? It literally blows the right tire off to the point that you can't launch the car at all. On the street I can mat it at 20mph and light up the tire, and the peg leg rear has a 2-something gear. I intend to just call it good for the rest of summer and swap in a SG this winter. And yeah, I have a line on a set of DOT drag radials. If that comes together I will paint whitewalls on them!

Sounds like a plan. Once you are able to hook up, you shouldn't have any problem at least running with the Chevy.
