Well After switching from a holley carb to the carter carb, I'm having some problems starting the motor. It seems to be hard after a drive and sitting for a few mins to 45 mins. Is this a the dreaded heat soak or vapor lock I heard about.
I never had a problem with the holley, the carb runs great other than the hard starting.
At first I thought it had flooded, but while cranking the motor if I pump the gas it will start - any ideas

It's the fuel combined with the carbs design .

Why did you swap out the holley ?

If you are using fuel with ethanol it seems to boil or vapor after shutdown. If you have the electric choke, try adjusting that. On my 2 cars I have to hit the gas once and then it starts fine. I love the Carters/Eddy carbs, no leaks and ez adjustments.

do you have any sort of phenolic spacer?

They really work wonders on the Carter and AFB design carbs.

I just removed the carter from my super bee for that reason. Pain to get started after it's warm and shut down for a spell. Put a 750 Quick fuel runs super and no more hard start after shut down. My GTX has a TQ that does the same thing. I may switch that to a quick fuel also.
