Looking at the pics I don't see anything for $90 that can't be homemade for $20.

That bypasses the amp gauge with a large wire (likely 8 ga) and likely relays something else in the system such as the ignition/voltage regulator wire.
So, to pull this off yourself, you'll need: 8 ga wire 12 ga fuse link for charging wire
I don't think you need to relay the ign but I do suggest relaying the headlights.
My car has the original charging wire connected to the starter relay as well for a double current path to the dash. I also relayed and spliced my headlights as in the first diagram (I only used 1 fuse holder since both circuits don't run simultaneously on a Duster) and my headlights are a lot brighter...running a square back alternator that is either 65 or 78 amps. I just added a volt gauge and everything in the car works much better now.
