Hi,
I need to get a replacement thermostat housing (the neck piece to which the upper radiator hose is attached to) for my 1970 440 motor. Mine has developed a leak, due to warpage I think..

Is this something a typical local parts store might have or would this be likely only found at a Mopar specialist online?

From what I understand, the big and small blocks used the same piece, but if anyone knows for sure, that would be great to know.

Thanks !

Call Mancini Racing, they stock them. Get the stock repop replacement one, not the MP chrome one. The chrome one is terrible.

If they stock them! Everytime I got to an auto parts store they have to order at least %40 of what I want!

Yes, but isn't it wise to support the sponsors of this site?? After all, if it were not for the sponsors, then there is no Moparts. As for NAPA, I mean really, do you want to have to answer 25 questions before the idiot behind the counter realizes that one time they actually made a car called a Coronet, and that it was rear wheel drive with a V8??

I need to replace one of those crappy chrome housings myself. Has anybody tried the 440 source aluminum housing? or a billet housing? Just curious.

Yes I use the 440source aluminum one. Works great, no problems. It comes with a 'brushed'(non polished" finish that is either anodized clear or powdercoated clear---the finish is TOUGH! Tool me a long time to sand through it in order to polish it. And paint stripper didn't touch it.
