Anyone ever considered setting their car up to run IHRA pure stock. Looks like a good place to race a fairly stock muscle car. I have always wanted a Max wedge car and have been collecting parts to build my 63 savoy to run in the pure stock muscle car drags. Only problem is, there is none of that type of racing going on in Texas. So i would have to tow to Michigan to get to race the car in a race the car was actually built for. I am excited to find the IHRA pure stock venue as the mods allowed to the cars are minimal and the index in A/ps is 12.05. Should be able to run 4-5 tents under with no problem and still only make a few changes to the car to race in the stock tire races or the IHRA pure stock. Just wondering if anyone else had considered it.

I'm considering running my 1969 340 Barracuda in PS, probably D/PS. It's an original 340 car and you don't need a rollbar in PS. I don't want to hack up the car, but I'll have to figure out how to install a driveshaft hoop without hacking up the floorpan. I have another 340 on the engine stand with TRW replacement pistons. Just a cam change and I should be good to go there. I'll probably switch over from the 4-speed to a 727. I have a 9" converter that might work pretty well for PS.

Looks like fun deal to me. I always wanted to try some class racing. Looks like it might not cost a fortune to try.

. Use one of the loops that use the four bolts that attach the tranny cross member. No holes in floor pan. I think us car tool.

I've been wanting to build a IHRA pure stocker for years. But it seems that I'm always building new homes, remodeling a home, moving and or changing jobs. Stocker/cheater cam, headers with high flow mufflers look like a do-able way to run the softer indexes. Stock spec valve spring is a weak spot for some set- ups imo. Lack of notched pistons could be a problem for some set-ups also. Some day, maybe some day, I'll get time to run some thing.

The max wedge springs should be good. I am actually going to try to do it with manifolds and open pipes. Stepped head pipes and x pipe leading to dumps. The Index for A/ps is 12.05. Jeff petersons stock tire max wedge fury has run that fast with manifolds and through mufflers on poly glass tires.

Hello, last year I moved from VA to El Paso, TX, but I hope to move to Houston or San Antonio in the next 1-2 years. I'm a huge fan of pure stock type racing. I have a 440 sixpack superbee that is set up to run in factory type racing with bias tires. I've talked to Jeff Peterson about it and he says there's a group of guys that run a good grudge match type racing in Dallas once a month.

IHRA Pure Stock??? I'll have to look into it, sounds like fun.

Thin shims under the rocker shaft will let the lifters extend so you can run the engine to higher rpm if you want to.

I've seen Jeff Peterson with his black max wedge car several times at the Stanton Michigan PSMCDR over the last 10 years or so. Nice guy.
