The pressure will drop on the guage when the liquid heats up. Also the return line needs to be bigger than the feed line.
Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

Are you running a constant voltage to your FP???
I should of said consistant voltage.

as far as i know it is getting consistant voltage, its on a relay, i will have to check, i think i will start with the gauge, somebody did mention that the return should be the size of the feed or bigger,i'm not doubting that, but i just can't see it creating that much of a fluctuation.

Never heard of that, I thought an autometer guage thats liquid filled is about the most accurate style of guage there was?? I would think they might want to use a non expanding form of liquid. But that might be why they are not filled all the way to allow for the expansion.
Lear something every day I guess.
Liquid filled gauges are great in a constant temp environment but when the oil in them heats up it pushes back on the measuring tube inside the gauge... normally with the filled gauges they show a lower pressure than whats really there(in a under hood environment)with increasing temps..... to the OP... drain the gauge first... there is a rubber plug on the top... pull it and let it drain out.. either leave the plug out or put a small hole in the plug so it can vent ... then check your system again

thanks for that info mr p body, i was hoping you would chime in, you always seem to have a good answer or response.
No problem... my buddy had the same issue on drag week 2 years ago(pressure was dropping according to his filled gauge) but he didnt believe it was the gauge so when he went to check out one of the cars I drained it and just left the plug out... when he got back I told him I found the problem and fixed it... so when he fired it up then looked at the gauge it was fine and he asked what I did... I told him... he still didnt believe me.... LOL

drained the fuel pressure gauge and readjusted the regulator, took the car out for a few more shake down miles and it seams to be holding at 6 1/2 lbs, hopefully she will hold , thanks for the input.
Glad you got it squared away
