I have a 70 roadrunner that is wired for a dual field alternator, I need to buy a new one. The parts supply house, such as auto zone, advance etc.. keep showing a single field alternator. Does anyone know if a dual field is even made any more or is a kit out there for conversion. I am concerned if I use a single field there will be some problems with in the charging system down stream. I have enough problems and do not want to solve another. As always I appreciate the insight or experience of this forum.

Thanks

You can email Brady Basner at Powermaster. He helped me with two dual field alternators.

Did you try a 72-74 Roadrunner when talking to the parts houses? The later year car may show a dual field part number.

dual fields were used up till the late 80's.

have them look one up for the 89 new yorker full size with 318.

will be the 78 amp dual field.

I agree just ask for one for a 72 up.They are dual fields.I have Summits chrome ones on 2 vehicles. They were about 70 bucks new when I bought them. Both have been flawless in 6 years.Rocky

Yup, when Chrysler switched they switched. My '71 donor truck has one, everything from then up to whatever the above guy said will work. They tended to get bigger in output over time so the later the better.
I wouldn't expect the parts books to even have that distinction, just the model year.

NAPA has dual field alternators. Took a day to get it.
