I have a 99 Ram 1500 5.2L that I'm trying to find an o2 sensor for. I crawled underneath and there are 2 sensors. One before the cat and one after. All the parts places say there is supposed to be a right and a left pre-cat. And one post cat.

I need to figure out which part number to order. (all my local places sell Bosch and I want the NGK) I measured how long the wires are, and they are about 12" long.
If I search NGK's website it says I'm supposed to have 2 pre-cat sensors. But if I type in 1998 model year, it lists 2 sensors each with different length wires and one says 12".
Should I just order that sensor? I couldn't see a part number on the OEM sensor.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm assuming because you didn't mention it, that you haven't replaced the sensor yet?

Yeah, there should only be two on a 1500.

Are you sure they didn't look up the wrong truck? The 360 HD's and V10's had dual cats on them and I believe they have three sensors on them.

After some further research, I think I'll order a 23506 NGK. It has the wire length needed. The application from the NGK website is for the Left Side.
Thanks for the suggestions and/or support.

I would use one from a dealer, I have seen too many problems caused by aftermarket O2 sensors on Dodge vehicles.

I've read that too. That's why I'm not ordering Bosch. NGK is the OEM supplier from what I gather.

I just installed the NGK 23506. The wires were the right length, the plug was correct, etc. I just took a short drive and it's definitely running smoother.

The OEM sensor was also an NGK/NTK just in case you're worried about going "aftermarket".

Agreed, been there done that and if it's avail I will always use OEM parts ESPECIALLY O2 sensors

I fought a driveability issue a few years ago on a customers Dakota - only to replace the new customer installed O2 with OEM, problem fixed

Even working at a Dodge dealer the last 24 years I would pull the sensor and read the part# which is stamped on it. Thats because even the dealer parts guys gave me the wrong one about 50% of the time until I got the # off of it. Ron
