I am running an MSD and an electric fuel pump through my ancient bulk head connector. What would it take to put in a small fuse block and run this high-draw stuff through there? Realizing that the battery charging would still be going through the factory fuse block.

Thanks

a minimal amount of effort and readily available parts. or are you asking how would you do it? that, my friend would depend on where you wanted to locate this fusebox.

I imagine that I would run a 12G wire from the battery side of the alternator into the aftermarket, or junkyard, fuse block. And then wire my accessories into one of the slots. Is that all that there is to it?

i would go a step heavier on the power feed and you would have to decide whether or not this fusebox would be a 'switched on' box or always on. that would be the deciding factor on where to have your power feed come from.

It would always be hot. I have a switch for the MSD and fuel pump.

Thanks

I think this is out of a Daytona (?), not sure of the year. I put it into my 84 GMC when I rewired the headlights with larger wires and relays. I pulled the connectors out, and replaced them to my master plan (!), and it worked. Somewhere, I have an auxillary fuse panel off a late 80's B van. Self contained with plug bayonet fuses. I'll try and get a pic, if I remember.

This looks promising, around $10.

It's all fed from the starter relay on the firewall, no need to run any current through the bulkhead. 130 amp alternator helps too...

Don't forget the relays

I have a five fuse version of one of those in my Duster from Pep Boys (I think), nice basic fuse block.

MSD recommends its main power and ground wires be run directly to the battery though. This could work for the fuel pump, just be sure to use a relay for safety.
